This Endo Restorative masterclass is accredited with 12 CPD by Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
This 2-day Endodontic masterclass delves into comprehensive, interdisciplinary approaches towards scenarios encountered in your practice on a daily basis.
The Endo-Restorative Course aims to guide our prospective participants through the principles of Endodontic Treatments, and restorations of endodontically treated teeth using the latest evidence and technology at the standards recommended.
The introduction of magnification in modern dentistry has improved the predictability and outcome of Endodontic procedures, as well as allowing minimally invasive principles of restoring teeth. Our participants would have the opportunity to carry out the Endodontics component under microscopes.
The aim of this intensive 2 day hands-on workshop is to guide you through every step of the journey, from; Rubber dam placement; Minimal & conservative access cavity designs; Rotary instrumentation; Obturation with the recommended techniques and recent advancements of sealers.
The Endo Restorative Corse will walk the participants through the steps to predictable, reproducible, and successful endodontic treatment, with tips and tricks which can be utilised in everyday general practice.
We appreciate that all our delegates will have varying levels of knowledge and experience in endodontics. As such, we deliver an individualized approach for all delegates. The Endo Restorative course will be tailored to your skill set and specific aspects of the endodontic treatment you wish to develop and improve.
The Endo Restorative Course will predominantly involve hands-on training with extracted teeth, complemented with interactive lectures to establish endodontic and restorative principles.
All the treatment modalities taught in this course are in accordance with the European Society of Endodontology.
The participants will learn the following through interactive seminars and working on extracted teeth.
Day 1
On completion of the day 1 program, the participants should be able to:
Develop a brief understanding associated with the Dental Operating Microscope along with appreciating various features which optimises its use for all aspects of Endodontic treatments.
Develop sound understanding of the importance of a methodical pre-endodontic assessment, including the utilisation of case assessment tools in determining endodontic complexity, as well as decision making for case management i.e. whether to treat or refer.
Develop a greater understanding of the signs, symptoms, and treatment of pulpal and periapical endodontic disease, and distinguish between odontogenic and non- odontogenic pain in endodontic diagnosis and management.
Recognise the role of local anaesthetic and analgesia in endodontic pain management while managing patients with acute endodontic pain.
Develop an understanding of the importance of rubber dam isolation in endodontics and how to utilise it efficiently in day-to-day practice.
Develop a thorough understanding of the key principles of access cavity design
Use of Ultrasonic for conservative access cavity designs, refinement and preventing endodontic mishaps
Identify the need for scouting and coronal pre-flaring prior to chemo-mechanical debridement of the root canal system and its importance in preventing common mishaps in Endodontics.
Identify the importance of achieving patency and glidepath formation in safely preparing the root canal system and preventing mishaps in root canal treatment and mechanical preparation.
Develop sound knowledge of how apex locators work and how they compare to the use of radiographs in the role of working length determination.
Evaluate a comprehensive overview of the importance of irrigation and intracanal medication in Endodontics and methods to improve irrigation efficacy and disinfection of the root canal system.
Day 2
On completion of the day 2 program, participants should be able to:
Identify the key principles of obturation and its importance in creating an apico-coronal seal to entomb and reduce bacterial recontamination within the root canal system
Evaluate various obturation techniques, including their relative indications, benefits, and limitations.
Evaluate the role of sealers in obturation and the rise of the bioceramic/calcium-silicate sealers in Endodontics
Identify the optimal conditions for obturation and when to consider utilisation of intracanal medicaments before obturation of the root canal system
Describe the criteria for what is considered to be an obturation of good technical outcome and how these parameters may have an effect on the prognosis or success of root canal treatment
Evaluate the recent literature on the restoration of endodontically treated teeth and the reported clinical outcomes
Describe the considerations in decision making for the restoration of endodontically treated teeth
Describe when to restore the root treated tooth and its importance to long term outcomes
Develop an understanding of various direct or pre-fabricated posts, when to place them, and the parameters that improve their long-term success including bonding protocols and core placements
Online Webinar
To be conducted as introductory webinars prior to the commencement of the 2 Day The Endo Restorative Masterclass.
1. The Rubber Dan Rationale:
Interactive seminar explaining the science behind the rubber dam to consolidate the clinicians resolve for its use for every Endodontic Treatment. The "Rationale" takes you through Microbiology; Anecdotal Evidence; Adhesive Dentistry & Medico-legal aspects. (2 Hours)
2. Endodontic Diagnosis:
Diagnosis is everything, adn did you know, ther eare over 35 factors that could be included in your routine Endodontic Diagnosis which have an impact on the outcome of treatment. This interactive a correct diagnosis using the most repeatable and reliable diagnostic tools and aids appropriately, while busting common myths in dentistry. This seminar wil help you adopt a multi-disciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment planning that contribute to a successful functional outcome. (2 Hours)
3. Hydraulic Calcium Silicate Materials:
Commonly known as Bioceramics, but is that the appropriate term? This seminar walks the participants though evidence based treatment & outcomes using Calcium Silicate materials in Endodontics (2 Hours)
Please ensure you bring extracted teeth for the hands-on session (excluding wisdom teeth). Specifically, we need:
